In the drab and colourless era draped with austerity that followed the Second World War, the Coronation celebrations must have felt something akin to the blaze of a bright summer day in the middle of a dull, rainy and chilly week. The Kemble Minx on offer here is from Coronation year and has sufficient original case decoration to suggest that for one day only, staff at the factory were allowed to go wild with the finishes and join in with the celebration. Note please also the red white and blue sharps which are unusual. There are traces of some repainting which undoubtedly took place in Jubilee year - or so we like to think. This patriotic instrument is a wonderful piece of nostalgia and would look perfectly at home in any front room in any one of the many countries that are proud to be part of The Commonwealth.
